Biography

Amedee is a National Science Foundation postdoctoral research fellow working with Dr. Richard Mayer in the Mayer Lab for Research in Learning and Instruction. Her research focuses on (a) evaluating the active learning construct; (b) determining the optimal dosage amount, order, and schedule of active learning and lecture; (c) applying cognitive psychology principles to pedagogy; and (d) assessing the quality of the educational literature. Amedee received her B.A. in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology and Psychology from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2016, her M.S. in Psychology from Carnegie Mellon University in 2018, and her Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from Purdue University in 2022. Outside of the lab, she can be found hiking, mountain/road/gravel biking, trail running, and horseback riding.
