Alicia Hernandez is a recipient of the 2018-2019 Morgan Award for Research Promise in Psychological & Brain Sciences. Alicia is from Gonzales, CA, a small town in Monterey County. Outside of school, she loves to bake, read, watch movies, and spend time with her pre-law club LEAD. She also enjoys working at the UCSB Annual Fund, where she has raised over $45,000 for university programs. Alicia has just completed her honors thesis under the advisement of Professor Sherman, works as a research assistant for Professor German’s Cognition and Development Lab, and has received two URCA Grants for her research. Her nominator, Dr. Sherman noted, “Throughout my interactions with Alicia, she has impressed me as a thoughtful young scholar; Alicia is a smart, industrious, focused, creative student who has learned excellent research skills.” In the fall, she will be attending law school at UCI! She hopes to become a lawyer who will combine her love of psychology with the law in a way that will genuinely help others. Alicia has loved her time at UCSB, and she will miss the incredible friends, faculty, and mentors she has met and learned from throughout her time here.

Congratulations, Alicia!
