Vladislava Segen received her Ph.D. at the University of Bournemouth and is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), Magdeburg, Germany Her research explores how grid cell coding is affected by very early Alzheimer’s Disease pathology, and if changes in grid cell coding during path integration tasks can be used as a biomarker for Alzheimer’s Disease pathology. To do so, she uses functional imaging, immersive VR technology and computational
modelling. In addition, she is interested in developing a virtual reality path integration task that can be used as a diagnostic tool in a clinical setting. Lastly, she is interested in understanding how aging affects precision of spatial memories and the encoding strategies that are employed during spatial memory tasks.
