Biography

Sara Leslie received her B.A. (Honors) in Psychology with a Neuroscience Specialization from Stanford University. After graduation, she worked in the Stanford Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, where she used neuroimaging and neuropsychological assessments to research the etiology of mood disorders and cognitive impairment. In 2018 she joined the lab of Dr. Michael Miller at UCSB.

Research

My research focuses on confidence and metacognition. More specifically, I examine confidence judgments when decisions are made in situations of uncertainty, confidence reporting in the domain of memory, and the interaction of metacognition with memory and decision processes. My work seeks to address the following primary questions: What cognitive and neural processes are involved in confidence judgments and metacognition? How does confidence interact with choice, and how does metacognition relate to adaptive decision-making? I am also interested in the involvement of confidence in belief formation and belief change.
