Biography
Mable graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara with a B.S. in Psychological & Brain Science and a B.A. in Sociology. After she graduated, she worked as a full- time research assistant in Hegarty Spatial Thinking Lab. Starting the fall, she continued to pursue her PhD degree at UCSB under the supervision of Dr. Mary Hegarty. Mable gets lost easily, which drives her interest to study individual differences in navigation abilities.
Research
Mable is generally interested in understanding individual differences in spatial cognition and navigation abilities. She utilizes virtual reality technologies to study how people acquire environmental knowledge and what strategies people use to navigate in different environments. She also conducts real-world studies and is interested in comparing the differences between navigation in the real world and in the VR.
