PBS undergraduate student Diego J. Gonzalez receives Graduate Opportunity Fellowship
Rising third-year undergraduate student Diego J. Gonzalez has received a Graduate Opportunity Fellowship, which seeks to support graduate students from non-traditional educational backgrounds who bring an understanding of the experiences of groups historically underrepresented in higher education. The fellowship’s goal is to increase the number of students who contribute to the diversity mission of the university, who persist towards the doctoral degree, and show promise as candidates for faculty appointments. Diego was previously an undergraduate at CSU Los Angeles and then UC Irvine, and earned their Master’s at CSU San Bernardino. They will pursue their PhD under the supervision of Dr. Karen Szumlinski, exploring the role of dopamine in a phenomenon known as “incubation of craving”.
Congratulations, Diego!
