Dr. Mary Hegarty, Distinguished Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences and director of the UCSB Spatial Thinking Lab, has been elected as a fellow to the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in recognition of her major contributions to the understanding of spatial cognition and spatial intelligence, including their application in and consequences for education in STEM fields.
In response to her election, Dr. Hegarty said:
“It is so nice to have the research of my lab recognized in this way, and I am thankful to all of my students, postdocs, and collaborators who have contributed to this research. It also reflects the wonderful intellectual environment that UCSB and especially the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences have provided for me over the last 35 years.”
Congratulations, Dr. Hegarty, on this incredible achievement!
