Neuroscience and Behavior
Laura Huerta Sanchez received her B.S. in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. In 2019, she began her graduate studies at UCSB in the area of Neuroscience and Behavior under the supervision of Dr. Karen Szumlinski.
Our laboratory’s research focus is on understanding the biochemical mechanisms underlying behavioral changes following the exposure to drugs of abuse. In particular, my research focuses on the examining these changes in the prefrontal cortex. In order to research this, our lab employs several techniques including a variety of assays for behavior that include neuropharmacological approaches, western blotting and immunocytochemistry.
