PBS Asst. Professor Regina Lapate receives Regent’s Junior Faculty Award
Assistant Professor Regina Lapate was awarded the Regent’s Junior Faculty Fellowship Award, granted by the UCSB Academic Personnel Office to support junior faculty in developing the substantial record in research and creative work necessary for advancement to tenure. Dr. Lapate’s laboratory (the LEAP Neuro lab) investigates the neural mechanisms underlying adaptive emotional functioning and emotion-cognition interactions–including studies on memory, awareness, and cognitive control– using behavioral, peripheral-physiological, and neuroimaging methods.
The Regents’ award will specifically support the lab’s research project “Lateral prefrontal organization in emotion: representational mechanisms”, which examines the functional specificity of distinct prefrontal regions in modulating emotional responding using multivariate analytical methods that permit uncovering neural representational content during goal-directed as well as spontaneous affective processing.
Congratulations, Dr. Lapate
